Contingency Corner: Motorcycles
Motorcycles create constant safety hazards on North African roads for both riders and motorists.
Consider the following when navigating busy streets on or around motorcycles:
- Avoid riding a motorcycle if possible
- If on a motorcycle, wear a helmet and any available protective equipment, including bright colored reflective gear
- Watch and listen for motorcycles, even on sidewalks and narrow streets closed to vehicles
- As a driver, monitor your mirrors for motorcycles constantly
- Be vigilant at intersections. Motorcycles can flow against normal traffic patterns
