Contingency Corner: Taxis
Taxis are an essential part of urban transit in cities across North Africa.
Consider the following steps to manage risks associated with riding in taxis:
- To avoid scams, use rideshare services or taxis called by hotels or restaurants
- Confirm the price before entering the taxi or allowing your luggage to be loaded
- Sit behind the driver where you can see their eyes in the mirror
- If at all possible, wear a seatbelt and lock the doors of the vehicle
- Utilize location sharing/tracking to keep others informed of your location
