Contingency Corner: Vehicle Security
Some basic preparations and considerations can prevent many vehicle-related emergencies.
Consider the following as you drive or ride in vehicles:
- Always lock the doors when in transit
 - Always use seat belts
 - Never drive distracted
 - Keep windows rolled up when possible, particularly in slow-moving traffic
 - Keep gas tank half-full at all times
 - Familiarize yourself with utilizing your spare tire (and confirm its readiness)
 - Keep bottled water, a blanket, and basic first aid supplies in the vehicle
