On 5 August 2026, the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH) and Kosmos Energy discussed measures to accelerate the development of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas project and enhance cooperation to improve its operational performance and economic returns. 

During a meeting in Nouakchott between SMH officials and a senior Kosmos Energy delegation, both sides reviewed progress on key aspects of the project and examined steps to support the implementation of its different phases.
