Tunisia: Libya Set to Receive Tunisian Business Delegation in Late December
Summary:
On 11 December 2022, a team from the Tunisian Embassy to Libya met with Mohamed Raied, the leader of the General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce. The meeting included the finalization of plans to receive in Libya a delegation of business leaders from Tunisia in coordination with Tunisian labor unions. Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah reportedly visited with Raied last week to confirm plans to host the delegation on 24 December 2022.
Outlook:
The business delegation meetings continue an ongoing series of meetings and agreements for Tunisia and its regional partners. With economic struggles continuing and criticism from Western partners growing, Tunisia will likely continue to seek economic diversification and partnership to spur growth and opportunity. Recent deals with neighbor Algeria, as well as Pakistan and Cote d’Ivoire show the pro-active approach being taken. Strong cooperation between Libya and Tunisia will likely benefit both countries as they search for economic and political stability.
