Morocco: Talisman Metals Raises £501,800 to Advance Copper Exploration

Summary:

On 20 August 2026, UK-listed Talisman Metals raised £501,800 through a share placement to fund further exploration at its Tirzzit and Fougnar copper projects in Morocco. The additional capital will support fieldwork ahead of a planned 3,000-metre drilling campaign at Tirzzit in September.

The six-week drilling program will assess mineralization across the project and test potential extensions, while the company said the new funding will provide greater flexibility to expand exploration activities during 2026.

Outlook:

Talisman’s decision to increase funding comes as demand for copper and other critical minerals continues to grow, giving Morocco’s emerging copper prospects greater strategic relevance. The September drilling campaign will help determine whether Tirzzit has sufficient mineralization to support further investment as companies seek to diversify sources of supply for the energy transition.

Positive results could lead to expanded exploration at Tirzzit and Fougnar and strengthen Morocco’s role in the regional critical minerals supply chain. However, the projects remain at an exploratory stage, with their commercial potential still dependent on the scale and quality of mineralization identified through drilling.
