On 24 September 2026, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb inaugurated General Plastic Injection in Tissemsilt, a production unit specializing in plastic components and accessories for vehicles. The facility was launched as part of the government’s policy to return assets recovered following final judicial decisions to economic activity. 

According to the Prime Minister’s services, the new unit is intended to support the development of local automotive production chains and increase domestic integration. The project is also expected to strengthen national industrial capacity and reduce reliance on imported automotive components. 

Outlook: 

The launch comes as Algeria seeks to build a more localized automotive supply chain rather than relying primarily on imported components. Expanding domestic production of plastic parts could gradually support higher local integration as vehicle manufacturing develops, particularly if additional component suppliers enter the market. 

The project also reflects the government’s broader effort to return recovered assets to productive use, making the performance of these facilities relevant to Algeria’s wider industrial policy.
