Summary:

On 29 September 2025, TAY Oil Services and Polaris announced their selection of STRYDE, a global leader in onshore nodal seismic technology, to deliver advanced equipment for a major oil and gas exploration project in Libya’s Concession 57, in the Sirte Basin.

Commissioned by the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO), a subsidiary of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) in eastern Libya, the project represents a significant milestone in Libya’s efforts to revive its onshore energy sector. Using 40,000 STRYDE seismic nodes across a 1,480 km² survey area, the initiative aims to produce high-resolution subsurface imaging to guide exploration and reduce drilling risks.

Officials from STRYDE and Polaris described the survey as the largest nodal seismic project ever undertaken in North Africa, marking a new phase in the region’s exploration technology.

Outlook:

The project is expected to enhance exploration efficiency and accuracy in Libya’s onshore oil fields, enabling faster and more informed drilling decisions. By reducing operational risks and costs, it could help attract renewed investment in the sector and accelerate field development. With production around 25% below peak levels, this project could help the NOC reach its production goals.

The adoption of advanced seismic technology also signals a broader shift toward modernization in Libya’s energy industry, potentially setting new standards for exploration across North Africa.
