Contingency Corner: Hotel Security
Traveling in frontier markets comes with a number of security challenges, including at hotels.
While hotels can be relatively secure, vigilance with regard to personal security is still essential.
Consider the following as you plan your next hotel stay:
- Select a room that is above ground level, but low enough to easily exit via a stairwell (2nd to 4th floor)
- Identify emergency exits and stairwells
- Use locks to secure your door and try door wedges for additional security
- Keep a flashlight near your bed
- Only open your door for someone you are expecting
